We Will Not Attend Mayor's Vigil
We will be at the memorial ceremonies for the four fallen officers who died trying to give Oakland peace. A service will be held 11 a.m. this Friday, March 27 at Oracle Arena. The community is invited and requested to arrive early so that the service may begin at the scheduled time.
We will not attend the vigil called by mayor Dellums. He called it at the site of the murder. Dellums is blurring the line between the killer and the fallen officers. On one side are the officers' families and all peace-loving residents. On the other side is the family of the murderer, who instead of remaining silent have made excuses to the press for the murderer and for themselves for hiding him from authorities, from a no-bail warrant, and from investigation into a previous homicide.
Dellums speaks of uniting as a city. The problem is, unity on what terms? Unity on finally taking back Oakland from the thug culture that dominates the streets? Or the mayor's unity with the Black Muslim Bakery gang until the last moment, his unity with gutter rappers who glorify thuggery?
Dellums will be joined by councilmembers who hand over tax money to social program operators in return for political support, program operators who celebrate sideshows in order to show youth they are hip. While squabbling among themselves over how much money to give the poverty pimps via Measure OO, councilmembers are considering at this very moment a reduction in police overtime. That overtime exists because we have half a police force.
We demand that City Hall commit to a plan for at least 1,100 police!
We demand no more tolerance for the thug culture that dominates our streets!
